Pakistan’s 3 universities to receive grants for participation in SEM Asia

Shell Eco-marathon (SEM) Asia is among one of the global energy efficient competition programs. Students are advised to firstly, design, then build and test energy efficient products by pushing the technical and logical boundaries. It is a challenging environment in which students usually build energy efficient cars and test them on a track which is available within that competition. The three major engineering universities that have received grants are Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and National University of Sciences and Technology – Pakistan Navy Engineering College (NUST PNEC).

The total grant accumulatively received to HEC for these three universities are Rs. 1.95 Million which shall be equally divided as Rs. 650,000 for investing in their prepared vehicles and participating in the event. Many other institutes also pitched their ideas and out of all the teams, three teams in total, one from each university as mentioned above were finalized by panel of Shell Pakistan. Every year, numerous teams across the world participate in this event of high significance, whereas, Pakistan has been participating in it since last five years. The conduct for this year has been postponed as more time can be granted to the talented students and situation across the world can improve. Let us all hope that Pakistan will rise and shine in SEM Asia 2020.
