Use of social media has rapidly exceeded in the world. People of all ages use multiple platforms of social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and others. People spend their time on social media without thinking about how much time they have wasted on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. But as we are aware of the fact that every picture has two sides and every side conveys different meanings of the picture.
Time Spent on Social Media
According to a recent study, reports exposed that every person on an average spends at least 1.8 hours on socializing with their network per day. Now it is not impossible that most of us spend more time surfing on Google than the total time we do on sleeping. In this era of computerization, everything is digitalized. Hence it is nearly impossible to avoid internet surfing.
Encouraging Effects of Social Media
Education has become very easy with the help of social media. Students have this golden opportunity to share important data for classwork or assignments. It is a success for gathering information to prepare project reports and other educational purposes. Teachers can easily keep their students updated with the class and exam schedules.
Social sites like LinkedIn, Naukri.com etc., save the attempt of doing the whole employment process by traditional methods. It provides opportunities to candidates who are looking for a particular job profile. Employees, as well as employers, can search for jobs or people of their choice to work for or work with.
The best way to publicize anything is to upload it on social sites. Social media spreads more rapidly in conveying the news or information than any other media say radio, television or newspapers. Many government sites, as well as private sites, are existing for filing documents. Ticket booking has become very serviceable to the customers, may it be for a movie show, a hotel in a far town or for an overseas travel trip.
For many years social media has been supporting people to stay in contact with their distant friends, relatives and other influential people in their lives, which would have otherwise been impossible. That’s why social media proves to be an outstanding platform to encourage and make possible innumerable things.
The desire of Fame and the Value of Being Liked
Many people want to get fame and they want to be liked by the people therefore only they have become addicted to using the platform of social media. There are numbers of fake account on Facebook and other networks. Particularly on Facebook people like to interconnect with unknown and strangers whereas in some cases they seriously get involved in emotional feelings. In the case of opposite gender friendships, many couples fall in love and consequently, they get married. However, it is very risky falling in love with strangers as many fatal incidents have occurred in society. Cyberbullying has become a common crime of today.
Many consider the behaviour of those who are highly addicted to social networking sites. When a post gets likes and comments, people feel happy on it and when it happens otherwise, they experience pulling out. Many people portray an unreal or fake personality just for o the desire to be liked.
Concluding my article I must say that it is difficult to deny the fact that social media has become a part of our lives.
