Federal government had issued orders in the previous month to all the institutes for remaining closed till 15th July, 2020, whereas, continuing of all academic activities through online platforms were also advised. As the closure date is approaching, institutes want to open up their operations so that finances can be managed. News of opening up of institutes after 15th July, 2020 are circulating around the media but Chairman HEC has rejected all such news.
Chairman of HEC while giving an interview to a TV channel said that not a single institute in the country has been granted permission of opening up. All the institutes will be required to take permission from HEC before opening up of their campuses and as far as regular opening is concerned, it is suspended till date. HEC Chairman said that it is unclear that whether the institutes will open up in July, August, September or even afterwards.
