Examination system in Pakistan is being followed religiously and is planned in advance under the control of various Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE). The system was hit quite badly due to current lockdown situation in the country. The students are usually appearing for examination during the months of March to June, however, all the students wait for exams in this year. BISE Sahiwal is one the youngest boards in the province of Punjab. The board was formulated in 2012 owing to the needs of the region. The decision of establishing new board, BISE Sahiwal was made by the Higher Education Department (HED) of Punjab. The areas assigned under the jurisdiction of BISE Sahiwal were earlier under the control of BISE Lahore. The number of institutes and students were not as large as a separate board but it grew tremendously over the last two decades. Hence, the creation of BISE Sahiwal emerged onto the scene. The current jurisdictions of BISE Sahiwal include Pakpattan, Okara and Sahiwal. These are now categorized into cultural, heritage and urban centers of Pakistan.
BISE Sahiwal operates through the functioning of various departments including Finance, Admin, Registration, Estate, Physical Education and Examination. All the office holders of BISE Sahiwal are appointed for three years as all the positions are made valid for three years by the board. The decisions are discussed and approved by Board of Governors (BOGs) of BISE Sahiwal. The board has carried a system of efficiency with it as it was controlled by BISE Lahore, therefore, it doesn’t rely on any sort of grant or aid from the government. The operations are carried smoothly by BISE Sahiwal itself as it manages the expenses and earns profits with keeping itself within the financial budget of the board. BISE Sahiwal conducted its first exam in 2013 which were the annual exams of matriculation and intermediate. The board has numerous functions in which major function is the conduct of exams.

BISE Sahiwal along with all the other educational boards of Punjab is looking for a possible opportunity to conduct the exams of 2020. The official verdicts from BISE Sahiwal are not made available on any platform, however, the boards have developed three different plans for the conduct of exams. All these plans known as Plan A, Plan B and Plan C are made available to all the educational institutes so that they can prepare their students accordingly. BISE Sahiwal and all the educational boards have communicated their recommendations to Chairman Punjab Board as an online meeting is scheduled between all the provincial boards.
Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) is the custodian of the meeting and Chairman of Aga Khan Board will head the meeting. The agenda of meeting includes a mutual decision regarding the announcement of revised schedule. There are certain credible sources that suggest the changes in the conduct of exams. IBCC is looking forward to make changes in the conduct of exams by improvising the paper pattern, grading structure and there are certain talks of introducing direct grading system. There are high chances of eliminating the practical papers for 2020. Lastly, IBCC has made it clear that all the provincial boards and governments will be announced in the next week so that the planning can be done accordingly.
