11th class exams are conducted by BISE Quetta on annual basis during the month of May and June respectively. The annual exams for 2020 were planned in the same manner as conducted previously, however, the situation had a U-turn to take. All the exams were suspended for an indefinite period due to the emergence and constant raise of corona virus. BISE Quetta was established in 1976 under the West Pakistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Ordinance. The board has gained the status of being an autonomous body in the region. It is one of the most professional boards in the country as it doesn’t rely on any funding or grant from the government rather it manages all expenses on its own. BISE Quetta is fully empowered with required administrative and financial authority for organizing, regulating, developing and controlling intermediate and matriculation education for all the public and private sector institutes. The primary objective and responsibility of the board is to conduct a fair and transparent examination within the areas of its jurisdiction. BISE Quetta is the sole body in the province, therefore, it provides scholarship opportunities for its students as well.
Additional examinations conducted by the board include examinations of various Diplomas. The diplomas managed by the board are Diploma in Associate Engineering, Diploma in Agriculture, Diploma in Commerce and Diploma in various languages. BISE Quetta has one of the largest jurisdictions in the country as it includes all the institutions over entire Balochistan except the institutions located in cantonment. There is a separate cantonment board in Balochistan which manages institutions within the cantonment. BISE Quetta is committed to provide quality education and examination services for the students. The board of Quetta is the sole educational body for the entire province of Balochistan and therefore, it has a huge responsibility on its shoulders. BISE Quetta has been called up for a meeting by Inter Board Committee of Chairmen as all the provincial educational boards are invited. BISE Quetta represents Balochistan so therefore, Chairman of BISE Quetta will represent the province of Balochistan. The meeting will be conducted using an online medium and primary objective is to reach a decision pertaining to the conduct of exams. There are high speculations of examination being cancelled for the current year, however, all such people are living in a false paradise as official verdict is yet to be announced.
Key agenda of the meeting will include three basic decisions regarding the conduct of exams, firstly, either to conduct exams or not, secondly, if exams are postponed further then for how long can the exams be postponed and lastly, should the exams be cancelled or not. The official verdict is yet to be announced but one of the decisions already agreed by the boards is that there will be no practical papers for the current year. BISE Quetta has advised all the affiliated institutes of the said plan and communicated the possible options of examination. Final decision during the meeting will be reached through mutual agreement among all Chairmen. One of the main agenda of meeting is to adopt a joint strategy for moving forward.
