Students appear for the examination of 12th class after studying twelve rigorous years spanning over multiple subjects. Among one of the first educational boards in the country after BISE Lahore was BISE Multan. It was formulated in 1968 under West Pakistan Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Ordinance. Later on, the ordinance was made an act as Punjab Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act, 1976. BISE Multan was the first educational board for the region of Southern Punjab. At the time of its inception, the board had a large jurisdiction to look after as it included Multan, Bahawalpur, Quetta, Kalat and DG Khan. Afterwards, all these areas were made as separate boards other than Kalat. The bifurcations made in BISE Multan were also a result of administrative changes of cities and districts along with increased number of students and institutes.
BISE Multan currently has its jurisdictions over Lodhran, Vehari, Khanewal and Multan itself. The board of Multan is an autonomous body and doesn’t rely on any funding or grant from the government. The board has transformed itself into a sheer professional body and as a result of that, it has two separate sections of examination, matric and inter. In this way, BISE Multan is not only able to manage the workload of the board but also ensures confidentiality and secrecy at higher levels. All the decisions of BISE Multan are undertaken by its 15 members based Board of Governors (BOGs). Chairman of BISE Multan currently serves as a permanent member of BOGs and often presides the meetings.

Date Sheet for the year of 2020 has been delayed by the educational boards as per the mutual agreement and instructions of provincial educational boards. The decision regarding the conduct of examination will be made in the next week. Developments regarding the examination system have been fastened as a recent meeting was conducted on the same. Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) is a joint forum in which Chairmen of all the provincial educational boards are its members. The recent meeting mentioned above was conducted by IBCC using an online medium in which all possibilities by respective Chairmen were discussed at length. Final recommendations of the meeting have been finalized and shared with the respective provincial governments.
Currently, all the examinations are regulated by Federal Ministry of Education, therefore, the approval of all sorts rests with the Education Ministry in Islamabad. A recent tweet by the Educational Minister of Punjab highlighted that all the recommendations have been discussed and finalized among the member, whereas, final approval shall be authorized from Islamabad. As soon as the final verdict is made official, the decision will be publicized for the students, educational institutes and all other stakeholders. Sources declare that there is a high possibility of conducting the remaining exams in July with elimination of practical papers. The grading structure might also observe a change in comparison to the previous year, however, some are of the view that exams might get cancelled in the current year.
