Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Larkana was formulated in 1995 and is home to thousands of students. The jurisdictions of the board were earlier managed by BISE Karachi but the workload of the Karachi city itself and with the evolving of educational environment in Larkana pushed the authorities to establish a new board. The major aim of the board is to provide a standardized, transparent and fair examination for its students. The jurisdictions of BISE Larkana include 7 different districts. The areas cover under it are Larkana, Kamber and Shahdad, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Dadu and Khairpur. The board is responsible for conducting annual and supplementary exams within its jurisdiction. All the public and private sector institutes within the jurisdiction are affiliated with BISE Larkana.
The academic year is started by BISE Larkana in April and September with exams during the months of March to June. The additional services that BISE Larkana provides is that it uploads the past papers and model papers for students. The pattern and syllabus changes after a year or two, hence, the board uploads paper for facilitation of the students and educational institutes. BISE Larkana is also responsible for issuing date sheets, result cards, degrees and mainly conducting examination. BISE Larkana conducted its first exam a year after its formulation in 1996. The board is an autonomous body and manages its expenses within its own financial budget.

The board of Larkana has thousands of students currently enrolled with equal number of students as its alumni, therefore, there is an overwhelming pressure for the final decision on the conduct of exams. BISE Larkana is planning jointly with other educational boards of Sindh to conduct the examination soon right after the holy month of Ramadan. Nevertheless, the final decision is dependent on an approval from the provincial and federal governments. There still are few chances that the exams for matric and inter might get cancelled. In such a case, Sindh government has notified all the boards to award marks based on the previous results of the students. The decision regarding the announcement of revised schedule of examination shall be published by Sindh Board but a recent development in same regard has taken place that shall facilitate this purpose.
An online meeting between all the provincial educational boards of the country has been scheduled by Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC). The forum is unbiased and a neutral entity, therefore, the decision of such high stature has been allotted to IBCC. In order to bring more fairness and relativity to reach the conclusion, the meeting shall be presided by Chairman of Aga Khan Board. Final decision to be taken in the meeting will be announced and publicized in two weeks of time. The bases for reaching any decision is the mutual agreement of all the Chairmen of provincial educational boards. IBCC’s main purpose is to decide a joint strategy for moving forward. The key decisions to be taken in the meeting shall include either the revised schedule of exams or postponement of exam, however, there still hovers a chance of cancellation.
