All the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education are responsible for conducting examination on annual basis. The exams conduct is dependent on the schedule of exams which is made public in form of date sheet. BISE DG Khan is one the recent establishments but has a large student base. It was the only board that was established in 1990s. The home city of board is one of the major cities of Southern Punjab, Dera Ghazi Khan. The city is known with the name of DG Khan. The formulation of BISE DG Khan was made in 1989 but the operations shifted to its home city in 1991. The first camp office of the newly born board was established within the building of BISE Multan. The authorities were forced for the formulation of a separate board in DG Khan due to tremendous increase in number of students and educational institutes. The current jurisdictions of BISE DG Khan include DG Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur.
The regions under the jurisdiction of BISE DG Khan are highly populated but evolving regions, hence, there was a lot more growth expected in the years to come. All the decisions taken by BISE DG Khan are undertaken by its Board of Governors (BOGs). The board has its BOGs based on 15 members which is headed by the Chairman of the board. The other key members of the board included in BOGs are Secretary, Audit Officer and Controller of Examinations. The board has various operational committees that are responsible for operations within their domain. The current operative committees of the board include appointment committee, date of birth correction committee, name correction committee, finance committee, inspection committee, appeal committee, scrutiny committee, auction committee and lastly, physical education committee. BISE DG Khan is an independent body and manages their own expenses out of its budget.

Tracing the history of examination system in the country, BISE DG Khan along with all other educational boards conduct examination during the months of March to June, however, the scenario is different in 2020. The positive direction is shown by Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) as they have scheduled an online meeting with all the Chairmen of the provincial educational boards. The invitations of the meeting have been sent to all the participants including Chairmen of Punjab Board, Sindh Board, KP Board and Balochistan Board along with AJK and GB Boards respectively. The agenda of the meeting is to reach a mutual consensus among all the boards for the conduct of exams.
The agenda of meeting includes scheduling of examination, revision in the grading structure, revision in the paper pattern, postponement of exams, SOPs needed for ensuring exams conduct and lastly, deciding on a direct grading system with its applicability. IBCC will inform the provincial governments within two weeks of time as all the areas will require a lengthy discussion. More importantly, IBCC has made it loud and clear that all the decisions made will be agreed on by all the educational boards. All the information was communicated by one of the officials of IBCC and later on made public and announced as well by Dr. Shahzad Jiva as he will be heading the meeting and is currently Chairman of Aga Khan Board.
