BISE Bahawalpur is working with one motto agenda of bringing transparency in the educational system. It was among the second generation educational establishments in the country. BISE Multan was made operative in the early 1970s’ and later on, BISE Multan was too bifurcated. The bifurcation of BISE Multan gave birth to BISE Bahawalpur in 1978. The board was established under West Pakistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Ordinance. The board is currently managed under Punjab Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act, 1978.
The first camp office of BISE Bahawalpur was established in year 1978 within the building of BISE Multan. The operations of board moved to Bahawalpur in 1980s’ with the current building allotted to board in 1993. The board performs various functions including the conduct of exams, issuance of required documents, recognition and withdrawal of institutes, entertaining students’ request and lastly, arranging extra-curricular activities. The board provides all these functions to its areas of jurisdiction. BISE Bahawalpur include Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan as its jurisdiction. BISE Bahawalpur has separate examination departments for managing the workload of intermediate and matric examination.
