We would like to congratulate all the graduates for passing out of their respective classes and levels. Pakistan is a country where 5 different seasons are observed by its population including summer, winter, autumn, spring and the fifth one as examination season. The entire country experiences it during the months of March to June for all the board classes of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th classes respectively. However, the university examinations are carried differently as per the schedule of each of them. Usually, all the semesters of various programs are being currently run during the year and at the end of semester, the examinations are held.
Please select your education level:
After successful passing out of these exams, one has to celebrate the success but most importantly has to decide on their future plans. It is a key decision to be undertaken by the students and in a society like Pakistan, one has to discuss it with all the key stakeholders of the process. The leading social institution remains to be family and the highest priority is in the hands of parents, then siblings and lastly, friends. However, the current educational ecosystem is evolving over the past and now parents are also becoming an active supporter for the own desires and wishes of their children.
One of the key decisions is the selection of educational avenues, it is critical at each level, however, its importance and specification is further specialized with every passing grade. After matriculation, students have to decide for an intermediate program that best fits their choices and interests. Selecting the right program of studies for one self is highly critical to one’s success. The right choice of program doesn’t only keep the student interested and they continue to prosper in that field by trying to be more innovative and even learn some of the difficult concepts. While those subjects may be of high difficulty for others but the interested students will be at ease with such conceptual framework. This will not only help in performing well in the exams but will also help the students in becoming future leaders of tomorrow.
We are committed to provide related information to all such students that are actively pursuing their agendas of making their career choices. There is a huge gap in the society of providing any such guidance but we as responsible citizens of our dear homeland, Pakistan will facilitate the closing out of this augmented space. The information related to all various Intermediate and University Programs can be acquired through our website. Students, who are interested in gaining information related to their choices can explore our website for more detailed and specified information as follow.
Intermediate Programs
Once the students had completed the matriculation level, they are eligible to get themselves enrolled in intermediate programs. This level is known with the name of High Secondary Schools. This is also known as college education because intermediate programs are taught at all colleges across the country. It comprises of 2 years in which 11th and 12th classes are studied respectively. Each having their annual board exam under the control of various educational boards in the country. Intermediate education is associated with the subjects that one has studied during matriculation as students with Sciences subjects can opt any of the available courses at intermediate level but medical education can only be pursued by those who had studied biology at matriculation level, whereas, computer sciences studies can be only opted if students had passed out matriculation with computer rather than biology. There are various programs as following in intermediate level including:
- F. Sc. Pre-Medical
- F. Sc. Pre – Engineering
- ICom
- ICS with Statistics / Physics
- F.A.
The first two is easily recognized from their names as they are specialized studies of medical and engineering programs. I. Com is getting intermediate education in the field of commerce, whereas, F.A is intermediate in arts subjects, usually, colleges have on an average 8-10 groups for F.A, out of which any one can be opted by the students. Lastly, ICS is offered with two combinations as ICS with Statistics and ICS with Physics. ICS is about acquiring education in the field of computer sciences. Although, all programs have different eligibility criteria and likewise, all colleges have different criterion majorly based on merit.
Bachelor programs
All Bachelor’s programs in Pakistan are known as undergraduate programs. These programs are offered by various universities across the country, although, these programs are eligible after completion of intermediate level. The completion needs to be successful and then criterion set by universities shall be in accordance. At this level, students make a choice regarding their professional careers as the areas in which they are interested or at least in which intermediate education is studied are opted by them. Most of the times, students opt a program in Intermediate due to status-quo rather than their own interest but this is where it matters the most. The four years of undergraduate program demands high competitiveness and therefore, interest is vital as examinations are also conducted after every 4-6 months on an average. The fields which students can pursue at undergraduate level are as follows:
- Medical Sciences (MBBS, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Allied etc.)
- Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical)
- Management Sciences (Business and Accounting)
- Humanities (Languages or specific disciplines i.e. English, Physics etc.)
- Arts and Design (Architecture, Textile etc.)
- Law
- Media Studies
On the other hand, getting good marks in intermediate also matters if one is desired to study in any of the leading institutes or pursue an esteemed professional pathway. For instance, top ranked engineering and medical universities have a demanding merit with highly competitive entry test. There are multiple institutes offering programs in above mentioned fields, however, few of the institutes offer programs in all disciplines, whereas, others deal in some of the specific programs.
Master Programs
Postgraduate programs in the country are the ones that are called Master’s program i.e. M.A, MBA, M. Sc., M. Com etc. These programs can be studied after the completion of graduate programs. As the educational system in the country is progression based, therefore, as in the case of other levels, same has been replicated for all postgraduate programs. Once Bachelor’s degree is completed by a student, he can opt for Master’s degree program, although, all of these programs also have certain eligibility criteria that varies from one university to the other. At this level, mostly the CGPA and achievements are of important nature rather than the performance in matriculation and intermediate exams. The performance has certain percentages in the total aggregate score but is not rated as high as some of the other criterion. The different programs in Master level includes:
- Medical Sciences (Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Allied etc.)
- Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical)
- Management Sciences (Business and Accounting)
- Humanities (Languages or specific disciplines i.e. English, Physics etc.)
- Law
- Media Studies
Some of the disciplines don’t offer any Master’s program as their Bachelor’s program is categorized as full and final qualification, for instance, MBBS. Another reason for not offering Master’s program is its non-existence in the country or even across the globe, for instance, in the field of Aviation Management and Architecture, there are only Bachelor’s program. In such disciplines, additional qualifications are available i.e. FPSC for MBBS pass outs, diplomas for Architectures, flying and ticketing courses for aviation students. These are to some extent made mandatory as they are useful but are not included in Master’s program. Whereas, M. Phil program is also considered as Master’s program which is more research oriented as it Masters in Philosophy.
